Summary

Single-well injection withdrawal (SWIW) tracer tests are commonly performed, and interpretation methodologies have been proposed for inference of many subsurface parameters from their breakthrough curves. This body of interpretive theory generally assumes radially symmetric flow, with particles tracing the same paths on their outbound and inbound journeys and implying last-in-first-out (LIFO) behavior.
