Summary
A decision is the end-goal of many scientific efforts. Uncertainty often plays an important role in these decisions. The presence of uncertainty is especially pronounced in earth science applications where models are often inadequate (due to, e.g., geologic heterogeneity) and the decision may have enormous consequences (e.g., deployment of CO sequestration to address climate change).
